The capacitor is a ship's "fuel tank". It is a container to store energy which is created by the ship's power source. When an action needs to be taken that requires energy, the required energy is taken from the capacitor. If the capacitor does not have enough energy, then the action could either fail or operate at a diminished capability.

Actions that use up capacitor energy include:

  • Activating certain modules
  • Onlining modules in space
  • Using the warp drive to travel in a solar system

The capacitor will recharge its energy over time, but pilots who need a quick boost of energy can use capacitor boosters.
